https://xtinabizelle.bandcamp.com/releases Will add new post soon!!! Hopefully today! :) I apologize for my absence. I was dealing with some health problems but back in business now! I just wanted to share with you a fashion obsession I have in regards to my everyday work attire, and that is the long blouse skinny jean look. You may have seen this look in some of my posts before on Pinterest but I never actually discussed this look. I usually have a variety of different v-neck blouses that are usually long accompanied with skinny Khaki pants or skinny pants. This is an example of a style that balances a short torso with long legs. I tend to find the best fit at H&M, but this blouse look can be found at many stores. I have found that Forever 21 blouses tend to be the worst fit for my body. I feel that the blouses are never quite long enough, or the back is much longer than the front and it ends up looking very awkward. I will sometimes where a tank top when that happens, but H&M rarely disappoints. Now there are some things to keep in mind. Because no designer considers a woman with a short torso and long legs, fitted collared shirts tend to be a real challenge. From my experience, the material tends to be very stiff which is not the most flattering for bodies with definitive curves. Also you do not have to tuck in your blouse. Since our goal is to ecentuate our beautiful body, keep in mind that tucking in can create stumpiness. Tucking in a long blouse is more appropriate for women with long torsos. If the blouse is very long and it is more comfortable tucked in, I'd say tuck in a small amount in the front.
Lastly, I tend to stick with long v-necks or button ups as opposed to non v-necks. Non v-necks tend to cause the body to look short and boxy. But of course, if you find a non v-neck blouse that looks flattering on you go ahead and rock it! Remember, these are just suggestions based on my experience and not written commandments. So if you try this look you will feel great, especially if you bring this look to the office. Short torso long legged women are very fortunate to be able go pull off this easy, elegant and versitile look! And the best part is that you can wear this style with just about any shoe, including boots for fall. I plan to dive into work out clothes soon, until then stay well!! So I'm sure most people have realized that all rompers are not made equally. It sucks but it's true, and my experience with rompers has resulted in more fails than successes. So what is it about rompers? Well for one thing it's a great idea! It's an outfit in one. But the fact that there is a determined waist and a bottom already chosen, leads to body inequalities no matter what. This doesn't mean that we cannot wear rompers. We can wear anything, heck you don't even have to listen to me at all, we have the choice to wear whatever we want, but at least for me rompers have been a struggle ever since they came back in style a few years back. And now I finally realized what some of the issues are regarding the waistline. No matter what size you wear, they have already determined your torso size. I wore the romper above at a concert last May and I did not like the fitting due to where the manufacturers determined the waistline. I had multiple wedgies and I had to adjust the entire outfit a bunch of times. Have I come up with a solution to wearing rompers? The answer is not really, but I did realize something. Although I am still trying to find out which rompers work for shorter torsos and long legs, without feeling like you're wearing a child's onesie, I found some "waistless options". I did find one on wheretoget and it is by far the sexiest thing I have ever worn. You do get occasional wedgies here and there but it always looks like it fits well with the body. I bought this romper and wore it out with friends. I wore Brazilian buttlift jeans over it because it was cold and you can even wear a skater skirt over it, or wear stockings, or rock it the way Rihanna is and wear it with boots to wherever you wanna go! So I learned that rompers without a determined waistline could possibly ease the solution. I will try to find out more but this literally made wearing a one piece so much better for me! And this is just a choice. If you're already doing well wearing rompers keep doing your thing! I just like shearing my experiences because at least for me rompers and I have had our constant struggles. I'll keep trying different things, but I believe a lower waistline, or no waistline at all can really compliment short torso long legged women. Here are some other good examples of rompers that can compliment a short torso with long legs: The sunflower crop top is one of my favorites! Because it flows and hangs on the body, it flatters the torso without hugging it too tightly. Many crop tops have a tight fit which can be a huge struggle for bodies that are shorter or wider. The shorts are elastic and really hug the booty. These are medium high waisted and do not fit too high on the body. You also have better control on how high you would like to wear them, which is an extra plus. Crop top: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ShopChicStud Sunglasses: I got these from etsy from a store called urbanBirdBoutique but it's no longer available. Sandals: Landsend, but these are in style so I'm sure you'll find these just about anywhere - maybe Zumies or Payless Shorts: Against All Odds - a store in the mall. I got them last August. But check out their website http://www.aao-usa.com/ Headband: I bought the headband from a festival in Long Beach, NY. But Claire's has headbands like this one. And I'm sure many other accessory stores. I'll post more summer outfits soon! I apologize for my absence. I had been very busy the last few months and I still plan on posting examples from my closet. So my personal elephant in the room has to do with the belly pooch. As I recall, this is a common trait that short torso long legged individuals may have, and as I stated in my body appreciation post, society and the media do not encourage loving your life long habitat. But what do we do about the belly pooch? Well if you google "belly pooch", or even the word belly, you'll find tons of posts on how to get rid of it. But is this something achievable? Why are so many advertisements pertaining to the belly? Well one things for sure, a woman's body has been scrutinized for decades and there aren't many body types that are worshiped by mainstream society. But maybe the belly pooch is natural. Maybe it's ok to have a belly. I actually found some baby photos (which I do not plan to post) and it seemed that I always had the little pooch. When I observed my stomach in the mirror recently, it was almost as if it was made just for my body due to the shortness of my torso. Although it may be natural, I've been trying different things to reduce its size. 1. Target exercise - I know it's been said that you cannot target one region of the body, but I figured it cannot hurt. I have been doing videos on YouTube by an awesome trainer who focuses on "trouble areas" of the body. This video is my favorite for abs and I did see some results: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DI9Um9WET70&autoplay=1 She also has very fun routines which include cultural dancing and hip hop dancing, such as my favorite workout twerking and body rolling. Her name is Keaira Lashae and she has a great channel on YouTube. Also checkout her channel with the most videos superherofitness TV. 2. Lipo Light treatments - I have been using groupon regularly and came across Lipo Light treatments at very reasonable prices. It seems to be a new trending business. Altogether, I had six different sessions and I tried two locations which were both at chiropractor offices. Trained technicians were responsible for conducting the sessions, and surprisingly both places provided me with completely different instructions. The first place I went to was very relaxing and down to earth. The technician told me to eat healthy throughout my treatments. My three sessions were scheduled once every week and I had great results, but in order to see full results I'd have to pay more. So what did I do? Use another groupon at another location. The second place I went to was very strict and gave me an eating guide which I did not entirely agree with. For instance, the tech told me to stay away from fruits because of the sugar content and she used blue berries as an example. I can tell you that sugar from fruit and added manufactured sugar are completely different from each other in regards to digestion and insulin spikes. I was not sure on the technician's credentials but I just went with everything. My sessions were scheduled all on one week which I did not really care for. I honestly noticed more results at the first place, but it is still too soon to tell since all my sessions occurred in this week. With both facilities they measured me before I was placed under the device for 30 mins which is a very relaxing experience. The first place measured me on my first day and after each session. The second place only measured before I went into treatment which wasn't very inspiring. You cannot eat two hours before and two hours after and you are expected to workout for 30 mins or more and drink lots of water. They also used this vibrating machine after the treatment for approximately 10 minutes. Here's the link for more information. http://contourlight.com/ContourLightFAQ.html I would recommend this process. It definitely helped me out. I wouldn't expect extreme miracles unless you plan on paying a lot of money. But check out groupon! They have tons of deals! 3. Eating healthy - There is no rocket science or specialized diet in order to achieve this. Just eat whole grains, fiber, fruit, vegetables and watch your intake of processed foods and foods with a high sugar content. There is no belly fat diet. You cannot spot target where your fat goes, especially if you have a shorter torso. And if you have done all these things, then you've done all you can. You can always get a tummy tuck or liposuction, but that is a personal choice. To make a long matter short you are not doing anything wrong if you exercise regularly and eat healthy. I definitely believe that this is a very common trait if your body is shorter. Health gurus can tell all the tales in the world. But I think acceptance is key and realize that it's not you're fault it's society that needs to broaden its scope on different body types. You're awesome and keep doing you! Since the weather is warming up I thought I should introduce one of my favorite spring outfits! Along with a long cardigan, this is good for the office. If you want to just hang out with some friends for brunch or have a nice outing, this is perfect. The shirt can be lightly tucked - in this case tucked in and pulled out a little. And as stated earlier, a long cardigan also works well with this for balance. Blouse: I bought this from h&m about two years ago. I'd check their website. http://m.hm.com/us/ Skirt: I bought this from Macy years ago! But you can find an elastic skirt like this probably at a department store like Macy's or even a store like wet seal. Shoes: http://shopprimadonna.com/shoes.html Bracelet: I bought the bracelet from shopprimadonna.com two winters ago on clearance. But any chunky bracelet that matches the color scheme will work just fine. These shoes are awesome! And who cares how tall you are?! I used to avoid buying heels that were too tall but we only live once right? So stand out! Shoes: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00QD4J4MW -$47 The joggers are very ideal since they have an elastic top. If you haven't already done so, please read my post regarding elastic for more information. Joggers:http://m.gojane.com/104531.html -$29 I bought the shirt from h&m last summer. Hopefully we can find it, but check out the website....not sure how much I bought it for but it definitely wasn't expensive. Crop top:http://m.hm.com/us/subdepartment/LADIES?Nr=4294864663%23items So take a trip on the wild side! Till next time.... I've explained time and time again how much I despise high waisted denim pants, but I never realized why they did not compliment the short waisted long legged woman. Surely times have changed, it's 2014, and if high waisted pants are making a comeback then they have manufactured them to fit a variety of all different bodies right? Elastic allows you to decide where your waist beings, therefore you won't have to struggle with those terrible low waists found on even high waiated pants ever again! Elastic shorts and elastic skirts (please read my personal post in girl flirty fashion where I show my elastic skater skirt) compliment the body and you decide how high, how low, or how tight you want it. You can rock your booty, or just chill with them. You can choose from drawstring, control top, or even an elastic top with a regular button and zipper! I bought mine from gojane.com . And definitely check out wheretogetit.com for more options. That's how I found my options. This ensemble is comfortable but also very flattering based on my personal experience. The gray long sleeved top really flatters the torso and the sweater is also very flattering, due to its length and openness. The jeans are Brazilian butt-lifters which are great for long legged ladies...especially if you are interested in getting a fuller booty like me. These jeans are also very easy to control waist wize, and they stretch to form to your beautiful curves. Grey sweater and long sleeve shirt: forever 21 (at the mall) http://www.forever21.com/ Brazilian jeans: http://www.hourglassangel.com This combo made me realize that high waisted skater skirts really do work with crop tops on a short torso body...especially if you have long legs! At first I was hesitant but this combo really really helps! Unlike high waisted shorts, high waisted skater skirts have no crotch, therefore perfect! Of course we still have high waisted short options, which I will definitely show later on, but there are no limits with skater skirts...so have no fear! Pink crop top: Charolette Ruse - $12 (clearance) Charolette Ruse has many cheap crop tops on sale. I bought this at the mall during their summer clearance, but they will definitely have something similar to this if this one is not available. Floral skater skirt: Charolette Ruse as well for $10 dollars. Bracelette: Crystalbleach.storenvy.com Floral head band: forever 21 at the mall Shoes: http://us.asos.com/Women-Shoes/rsrmq/?cid=4172 Necklace: |
